Nematodes are living organisms and need the right conditions to thrive. But how long can you actually store them?
Shelf life of nematodes
Generally, you can keep nematodes for about two weeks , provided they're stored properly. However, nematodes against snails have a longer shelf life of about four to six weeks , thanks to the addition of extra nutrients. Normally, these nematodes last four weeks, but thanks to our efficient logistics process, we can extend this to six weeks for special promotions. This is because the nematodes spend less time in our storage, meaning they arrive fresher.
How do you store nematodes?
Store in a cool place : Nematodes last longest in the refrigerator at a temperature between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius.
Do not freeze : Freezing is harmful to nematodes and makes them ineffective.
Original packaging : Store the nematodes in their original packaging so that they do not dry out or become damaged.
When to use?
It's best to use nematodes as soon as possible after receipt. The fresher they are, the more effective they are at controlling pests. Always check the expiration date on the packaging and avoid using nematodes that appear dried out or discolored.
