Want to get rid of those pesky leatherjackets in your lawn? Then timing is everything. Intervention is only effective when the larvae are active in the soil. For leatherjackets, that's from late summer until well into spring.
The best time to take action is from September to November . During these months, the larvae are just beneath the grass, feeding on the roots. The soil is still warm enough for nematodes to be deployed against leatherjackets .
Is it a mild winter? Then you can even treat in December . Don't wait until the grass turns yellow or starts to peel, because by then the damage is often already extensive.
👉 In short: use nematodes against leatherjackets as soon as the larvae are active, preferably before the first frost.
