Slugs can cause great damage to your garden by eating leaves, flowers and young plants. This leads to unsightly holes in the leaves and can even cause plants to die. Both slugs and snails can cause this damage, but fortunately there is an effective and environmentally friendly solution: nematodes. With nematodes you can control the snail population in a biological way, without using harmful chemicals.

What are nematodes against snails?
Nematodes (Phasmarhabditis californica) are microscopic worms that are used as a natural enemy of slugs and are the best tested to repel slugs. These nematodes enter the slugs through natural openings and secrete bacteria that are deadly to the slugs. Within a few days the slugs die and your garden is protected from further damage.
Benefits of nematodes against snails
- 100% Organic: Completely safe for the environment, pets and beneficial insects such as bees and earthworms.
- Targeted action: Nematodes only infect the snails, without affecting other beneficial organisms.
- Fast onset of action: Within a few days of administration, the snail population begins to decrease.
- Easy to apply: The nematodes are simply mixed with water and spread over the affected areas
How do nematodes work against snails?
The nematodes actively search for snails in the soil. When they enter a snail through the natural openings, they secrete bacteria that fatally infect the snail. The snails die within a few days, after which the nematodes reproduce in the dead snail and search for new prey. This process takes place largely underground, making it invisible but very effective (slugs always retreat to the ground).
