Nematodes are a great way to control pests organically. But sometimes customers notice that the nematodes clump together, preventing them from dissolving properly in water. Don't worry! In this blog post, we'll explain why this happens and how to easily solve it.
Why do nematodes clump together?
Nematodes are microscopic worms that come in powder or gel form. Sometimes they can stick together, especially if:
- They are not distributed properly through the water.
- The water is too cold or too hot.
- They sit in the same solution for too long without movement.
- The packaging has not been shaken properly before use.
- The nematodes were pressed too close together during the preparation of the bags.
What can you do against clumping nematodes?
Luckily, there's a simple solution! Follow these steps to effectively remove nematodes:
- Use lukewarm water: Fill a bucket or watering can with room temperature water (around 15-20°C). Water that is too cold or too hot can make the nematodes less active and cause them to clump. Tap water is suitable for this, but lukewarm water is better !
- Stir, stir, stir: Slowly pour the powder or gel into the water while stirring constantly. This helps prevent lumps from forming.
- Apply immediately: Don't wait too long before applying the solution to the soil or plants. Nematodes are living organisms and remain most effective when applied promptly.
